Η Qualcomm announced today its new generation Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC intended for all budget smartphones
Essentially the new Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC is a refresher in her portfolio Qualcomm which will be addressed to Budget devices (lower price category), and according to Qualcomm, the new SoC offers higher CPU speeds, connectivity to 5G networks and new capabilities in the field of photography with better imaging quality in the devices' built-in cameras.
Qualcomm's new budget SoC is equipped with Head CPU that "run" at maximum speeds they reach up to 2,2 GHz, which is a slight increase over the previous generation.
In addition to the above, the new SoC also brings support to the technology Quick Charge, and as Qualcomm engineers state, this technology will provide charging the battery to 50% in just 15 minutes (without specifying the battery capacity).
The new SoC supports FHD+ resolution screens with frame rates up to 120fps. Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean that every Smartphone that will feature the particular SoC will support such displays, but it just gives Smartphone manufacturers the opportunity to take advantage of the capabilities offered by the new SoC.
Also the new Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC it comes with some upgrades in the camera sections. For example, it supports the electronic image stabilization, the fastest autofocus and the improved Blur. The new Soc also supports technology multi-camera temporal filtering (MCTF) to drastically reduce noise in video recording. At the same time, support has been added to various Ai based lighting filters, for better low-light photography, but also a dedicated background noise removal tool also based on Ai.
The Snapdragon 4 Gen2 is manufactured in a hub at 4nm, which makes it competitive in terms of performance and better energy efficiency.
Availability and specifications
The first devices powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC will be available at the end of this year, and according to rumors, it is expected the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12R to be among the first devices to receive it.
