A laptop full of malware sold for $ 1,3 million.

It may seem paranoid to many to give millions for one laptop and indeed full of malware, but this has already happened.

ΜA recent auction for a Samsung NC10 laptop resulted in an owner putting his hand deep in his pocket to invest an outrageous $ 1,345 million to buy a laptop loaded with six viruses that have managed to cause damage totaling $ 95 billion.

This computer is considered a work of art, and there is information that wants it to function as an object of study for academic purposes.

The title of this work of art is "The Persistence of Chaos", or "the Persistence of Chaos" and is currently in a special quarantine in order to keep active inside all the viruses it contains, but in no way connected to the Internet or some other network so that malware does not escape.

Experts believe that all the protection measures taken are such that this computer in its current form looks like an ancient war object collected by an archaeologist.

This work has been realized by the artist Guo O Dong, in order to give a physical form to the abstract concept of cyber threat. In its internal memory can be found the WannaCry virus, which managed to infect more than 200.000 computers in 150 different countries of the world, but also BlackEnergy, which has in its disastrous assets the shutdown of the electricity supply network of Ukraine.

Some other malware included in this computer are ILOVEYOU, MyDoom, SoBig and DarkTequila. As Engadget comments, this computer is a reminder of how dangerous malware can become, especially in our interconnected world.
