In the UK, three mobile towers were set on fire in the cities of Liverpool and Birmingham in recent days, and investigations are currently underway for those responsible.
ΌAll of this is happening in an already explosive environment, as conspiracy theories linking 5G to the coronavirus pandemic are in fact widespread around the world. In addition to these arsons, those mobile technicians working on various projects to expand the 5G network have also been threatened.
Faced with this explosive situation, o Oliver dowden, the British Minister of Culture, announced that he would ask the Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to take the necessary measures, in an attempt to delete this conspiracy content from their pages.
Social networks are mobilizing against misinformation
The minister's message seems to have been heard by YouTube, which first announced a series of measures on the subject. So, all the videos that directly link and connect 5G with Koronaios will be deleted directly on the platform.
According to the information, Youtube even plans to exclude from the searches and remove them from the search results that concern the same topic.
All that remains now is to see the implementation of these measures, and whether they will ultimately prevent the spread of this harmful misinformation.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, fake news has multiplied on social media, forcing them to react. Some posts are now systematically deleted. Facebook, Instagram and Twitter have already taken the initiative to combat this misleading information.
The Coronavirus pandemic is a serious problem when it comes to cyber security. Spammers via e-mail used the pandemic to persuade malicious recipients of coronavirus emails to download malicious attachments embedded in these emails.
Other scammers have created tens of thousands of websites with coronavirus-related names. There are also some applications and programs that attack computers and smartphones.
The same has been done through fake SMS, and generally in this difficult time, hackers are trying to take advantage of the crisis caused by the coronavirus. They carry out phishing attacks and create malicious programs and for this reason we should all be very careful.
