The finalization of the specifications for the standard USB 3.2 has been done for quite some time, but only now the body USB-IF announced the start of its availability and logically we will see the first slots on desktop PCs in 2019.
Πwe will probably not see widespread penetration of technology USB 3.2 before the second half of the year, because there are no compatible motherboards, nor peripherals that support speeds 20Gbps. Still, it will be difficult to see USB 3.2 on laptops or mobile devices before 2020.
Do not forget the slots Thunderbolt 3 offer speed 40Gbps, but this technology is still much more expensive compared to USB. This is why we find them mainly on Apple laptops and more expensive models of Windows PCs.
With the slots USB 3.2 we will enjoy higher speeds and devices with lower capabilities, lower price.
