New record supply from China with 13 million masks, respirators and tests

Over 13 million medical masks, respirators and diagnostic tests are expected in Greece from the Chinese city of Tianjin in the next two twenty-four hours.

ΠThis is the largest purchase of medical equipment from the country so far, while the supply of 5 tons of chloroquine from India and the donation of 11 tons of medical equipment from the United Arab Emirates have preceded.

The transfer of the material from China to Athens is done with two special Cargo flights. The first of the two aircraft has already taken off and is in flight to Greece, while the second is expected to complete its mission on Tuesday. Initially, the Greek government had reached an agreement on the purchase of sanitary ware with Saudi Arabia. However, the recording of cases in Mecca resulted in the cancellation of the agreement.

Eventually, an agreement was reached with China for an amount that - according to government sources - exceeds 6 million euros. The same information sources point out that the cost of supply and transportation of the material in Greece is covered by donations from institutions and companies.

In particular, the aircraft are hers Aegean, their fuel ELPE and the cost of the purchase is covered by donations made by Onassis Foundation and Greek shipowners.
