The password you all need to know if your cell phone is lost!

ELAS informs the citizens what to do in case they lose or their mobile phone is stolen.

ΣIn particular, the Greek Police, in a message on Twitter, urges the owners to write down a specific code, which will be useful to locate their mobile phone if they lose it or fall victim to theft.

  • Keep your cell phone invisible in your pocket or purse when not in use.
  • Keep your mobile phone locked with a lock code or PIN when not in use.
  • Do not use your mobile phone when you are in a place where you do not feel safe.
  • Try to have your mobile phone as invisible as possible, when you have it with you or use it on the street.
  • Put your mobile phone in a safe pocket when you are at a bus stop, in the means of transport, in department stores, shopping malls, stadiums, entertainment venues and generally in crowded places.
  • Do not leave your mobile phone unattended when you are in cafes, entertainment venues and other crowded places. Do not enter the sea, leaving your mobile phone (and other objects) on the beach, unattended.
  • At home, do not leave your mobile phone near open windows or on tables in the yard, near the road.
  • Do not leave your mobile phone unattended in the car. In case you have to leave it in the car, place it in a place where it will not be visible.
  • Record and keep in a safe place the IMEI number of your device. Each mobile phone has a 15-digit IMEI number, which is unique and identifies the device. You can see this number on the screen of your mobile phone by typing * # 06 # (Star-Pulse-Zero-Six-Pulse).
  • Record the serial number of your device, which is usually listed where the IMEI number is also listed.
  • Inform the mobile service provider in writing about the theft, in order to prohibit the receipt and / or provision of any electronic communications service from your device.
  • Create a fixed mark on your device to make it easier to identify in case of theft. Even a photo of the cell phone can be useful if it is located. (The mobile phone can be marked with a marker or a sharp object. There are also special pens, with UV rays, which are invisible to the naked eye and only when illuminated does the recording appear).
  • Do not easily give your mobile phone to a stranger, who asked you to make an "emergency call", without researching and making sure that there really is such a need.
  • Do not trust a stranger, who will ask you to see your cell phone to find out if it is what he "lost" or to examine the model or for another similar excuse.
  • In case of threat with any weapon, do not risk your life or physical integrity, in order to keep your mobile phone in your possession.
  • Read carefully and apply the safety tips of your mobile phone vendor.
  • Inform the provider company immediately in case of theft or loss of the mobile phone.
  • Report the illegal removal of your mobile phone to the Police. Call 100 on any suspect
