An organized international investigation has led to the arrest of many people suspected of smuggling pirated movies through torrents.
Υby its leadership Europol, and in coordination with law enforcement authorities in 18 countries, arrested members of the Sparks Group and in the confiscation of Server & Hosting. This group allegedly facilitated the illegal distribution of a number of blockbuster titles.

Sparks Group has used these servers to illegally store movies, and distribute copyrighted content to members around the world.
« Members of the Sparks Group reproduce and distribute hundreds of movies and TV shows before their release date, including almost every movie released by major production studios, causing millions of dollars in losses in the film and television industry.Said Peter Fitzhugh of Homeland Security.
Sparks Group members allegedly present themselves as retailers to acquire unreleased titles DVD and Blu-Ray in order to deceive the wholesale distributors into giving them the films before their official release dates. While the pirates promised to keep the release dates, they eventually removed the copyrighted content and distributed it to various streaming services and torrent sites.
According to Europol , law enforcement officers confiscated more than 60 servers managed by Sparks Group in various countries, such as Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, South Korea and many others.
