Η Microsoft ends his life Internet Explorer with a software update which is designed to permanently disable the browser on all consumer editions of Windows 10

The company had announced that it intends to close the Internet Explorer in June, when it officially ended support for the browser. In December, the company said it would permanently disable it IE 11 on February 14, that is, on his day Valentine's Day.

The time has come, and so the company is leaving Internet Explorer behind through a software update for Microsoft Edge, and not through a Windows update as it previously hinted.

The end of IE lt; / RTI & gt;θε in June, where after installing the update the browser could not be opened. So the user was redirected to Microsoft Edge which could automatically load all the data from IE11.

As the company stated, today's update means that "all remaining devices that have not migrated from IE11 to Microsoft Edge are scheduled to migrate on February 14, 2023."

On June 13, 2023, the company plans to remove the remaining elements of the browser, such as the icon in the Start Menu and taskbar, through a Windows security update.

IE right now occupies only 2.1% of the market, with Google's Chrome taking the lead for some time now. The fee is more formal, since the company has been working on its withdrawal for years. Internet Explorer first appeared in 1995 and dominated the market for over 10 years before being overtaken by Chrome in the 2010s.

To be fair, it's not quite the end of it, yet. In particular, the browser will remain available through the Windows 10 Long-Term Service Channel releases and Windows 7 Extended Security Updates, publications sold to corporations and governments. This is because there are some systems that still work with IE. According to a survey, on average they are used 1.678 legacy applications from various companies.

Also, Explorer's heart will continue to beat through Edge and “IE mode”, which is designed to run legacy websites.
