The Windows 11 it is a very good operating system and Microsoft is constantly adding many new features, fixing problems and making many improvements to its channels. Windows Insider

The long awaited update of the Windows 11 23H2 will allow a wider range of users to benefit from these changes and improvements, and in addition to numerous exciting additions, there are five special features that will make the experience of using Windows 11 much better for all users.

1. Dynamic lighting (support RGB control)

If you're into RGB lighting, you're probably familiar with the problems that arise when trying to get RGB lighting to work on devices from different manufacturers. Companies such as Corsair, Logitech and Hyper have their own software development kits (SDK), and therefore you end up using several different apps to set RGB lighting on all your devices.

While there are apps like OpenRGB and SignalRGB claimed to be compatible with many devices, Microsoft is now bringing new dynamic RGB lighting control options included in this update. However, the options it gives are basic for now and only work with some of its keyboards and mice Razer, but this is definitely a move by Microsoft in the right direction.

Essentially this is Microsoft's first attempt to create a single place to control all RGB devices, and unlike many third-party apps it won't consume much of your computer's power, and you'll be free from ads and offers that pop up all the time .

From what we've seen so far in Microsoft's latest update to Insiders, it looks like dynamic lighting has a very promising future ahead of it. Microsoft says that various companies are supported such as Asus, Acer, HP and Logitech that use dynamic lighting in their products, but if it adds other lesser-known companies in the future, then it will definitely become more user-friendly how to customize RGB lighting.

2. Support for multiple archive formats (compressed files)

For a long time, all Windows users needed programs like the WinRAR or 7-Zip to be able to open various types of compressed files other than .zip files. But now to the upcoming one update 23H2, Microsoft will use various Tools from the libarchive project, and this will allow you to open all files that have extensions .gz, .tar and .rar directly from File Explorer in Windows, without the need for any additional software.

Because they Libarchive tools they also work well with other file formats such as .pax, .cpio and others, we are optimistic that when the update becomes available 23:2 am, will be the first time we'll have built-in support for almost all major compressed file formats.

3. Dev Home and Dev Drive on WINDOWS 11

With the advent of Windows 11 Preview Build 23466 made last May, Microsoft also added the Home Dev which is a hub designed specifically for application developers. Along with tools for monitoring hardware and direct access to GitHub repositories, Dev Home lets you install more than 20 extensions, such as Android Studio, Visual Studio and PyCharm.

This way, you can work and manage all the Projects you develop as a Developer, all from one place. Microsoft has also provided detailed guides for developers on how to use these extensions in the applications they develop. Microsoft also plans to introduce one new extension store, to offer more widgets for the Home Dev in the future.

In addition, you can also use the dev drive. This is a special drive format created to store Project source code and information, directly from Dev Home.

Unlike using the New Technology File System (NTFS), the DEV DRIVE will be based on the durable file system (Refs) and will use a method called connect Copy-on-Write (CoW) and other features such as Refs to improve performance when creating applications.

4. Support for HDR wallpapers

In the preview version of the Windows 23516, Microsoft has finally included proper support for HDR wallpapers, but unfortunately there are some limitations. The wallpaper image should be in .jxr format, but you'll also need to adjust some extra settings for HDR on your display to make it work properly.

The availability of this support for HDR wallpapers in the upcoming update 23:2 am not yet confirmed by Microsoft. However, let's hope that Microsoft will release it as part of this upcoming Windows 11 update.

New backup application (Backup)

Microsoft introduced the app windows-backup with the Dev Drive on Build 23466. This new app allows you to easily back up all your files and folders to its storage OneDrive by simply clicking a button. It also helps you transfer your app preferences, settings, and credentials when you set up a new computer for the first time.

The recovery process has also been greatly improved. When you restore your old system, or backup to the new computer, any apps that were pinned to the Start menu and taskbar. So when you move to your new computer, you can click on the app icons to reinstall them from Microsoft Store. This way will work for non-Microsoft Store apps as well, but this time clicking on their icons will take you to their website to install them.

Now, using the new windows-backup and improved file restore process, transferring your data to another computer when switching from an older computer or laptop will become a much simpler process.

Conclusion

The update of Windows 11 23H2 brings many additional useful functions. These include a new look for file explorer, the Windows Copilot and improvements to Windows Ink. What's even better is that this 23H2 update will come as a small package and you won't have to wait for a long time while downloading it.

The exact date when this important update will become available to everyone is not yet known, but based on the pattern that Microsoft follows, the long-awaited update of Windows 11 23H2 it will be released around October.
