Η Microsoft has officially announced Pluton, a new security chipset for Windows PC, which will be integrated into the new generation of computer processors (or with Intel, either with AMD, or with Qualcomm).
ΑThis Chipset will offer an extra layer of security that will close the current security gap due to its separate operation Trusted Platform Module (operates autonomously from CPU and hackers can target the communication channel between the two).
The Microsoft Pluto solves this issue because it is integrated on the CPU and the company is already working closely with the three manufacturers to pass it on to their new processors, with the AMD to be the first to offer it to users, as it has the know-how from the corresponding solution for Xbox One. According to Microsoft, an aspirant hacker can not retrieve information from Pluto with malware or other malicious attacks (we will see this in the future).
Another advantage Microsoft Pluto is the fact that it can be upgraded with firmware updates directly from Microsoft and not through the various channels offered by the manufacturers (e.g. Lenovo Vantage, Dell SupportAssist), so that there is a central management for easier and faster distribution.
It is not known when the first ones will be released Windows PC with Microsoft Pluto in their processor, but we assume we will have to wait for the next generation of processors from AMD, Intel and Qualcomm so it will take a few months.
