MediaTek announced at Computex 2019 in Taiwan, a new chipset with support for 5G networks, which uses ARM Cortex-A77 CPU and Mali-G77 GPU
ΑThis new chipset is based on the 7nm process and also features the latest Cortex-A77 CPU and Mali-G77 GPU recently announced by ARM. The company has also included the most powerful AI or APU module in the chipset. The SoC has the Helio M70 5G modem, which will provide world-class performance and connectivity.
The new chipset has a multi-function design, which means it can support other network standards such as 2G, 3G and 4G. It uses the Helio M70 5G modem that was announced earlier this year. MediaTek states that the "all in one" solution is more advanced than the other dual-chip solutions offered by the competition.
The chipset will have a smart energy saving feature along with integrated power management. It can provide up to 4,7 Gbps download speeds and 2,5 Gbps data transfer speeds.
It is also the world's first 5G SoC built using the 7nm process, which will help save energy and increase efficiency. The built-in APU supports advanced AI features such as de-blur and the image processor can perform 4K video encoding and decoding at 60fps. It can also support extremely high resolution cameras up to 80 megapixels.
MediaTek chipsets are not aimed at flagships and the company does not seek to "hit" this market segment, but instead wants to offer a cost-effective 5G solution to mid-range devices across Asia, Europe and North America.
