Laptops and desktops running Windows 7 face problems restarting or shutting down, but some users have found a temporary solution to the problem.
Η Microsoft stopped support for Windows 7 in mid-January, but a recent update may need to be released as users report an undetectable error that prevents them from shutting down or restarting their computers.
No one knows what causes this error. Last week I found reports on the internet that their computers Windows 7 were unable to shut down or restart. When you try to complete an action, Windows 7 displays a pop-up window that says “You do not have permission to shut down this computer".
Microsoft has not commented on the situation, leaving users looking for temporary fixes.
Here is the temporary solution that users share on Reddit and other platforms:
- Create another administrator account and sign in
- Log in to the default administrator account again
- Shut down or restart the computer
Quick Heal has announced another option for users experiencing the bug. Follow these steps if you are not satisfied with the temporary solution:
- Press the 'Windows' and 'R' buttons to open the run window
- Type 'gpedit.msc' and press 'OK'
- Go to 'Computer Configuration'> 'Windows Settings'> 'Security Settings'> 'Local Policies'> 'Security Options'
- In the panel on the right, double-click on 'User Account Control: Run all administrators in' Admin Approval Mode 'and select' Enable '
- Open the run window again and type 'gpupdate / force'
- You can now shut down or restart your computer.
It serves as a more permanent solution, but maybe Microsoft will give the final solution to the bug. More than 200 million computers worldwide are running "expired" versions of Windows, and most of them are running Windows 7.
However, the company had once again solved a problem that turned off the computer wallpaper, even after it had stopped supporting Windows 7, so there is still hope.
