ΤThe great Filipino chemical Maria Ylagan Orosa honors Google with its doodle today on the occasion of the completion of 126 years since its birth.
Orosa is considered the "mother" of more than 700 innovative recipes, including the local spice of banana ketchup. A food technologist, war heroine and humanist, Orosa impressed everyone with her outstanding performance as a student, which in 1916 earned her a state scholarship to the University of Seattle.
She was then offered a job as a chemist but she eventually chose to return to the Philippines in 1922 to focus on the malnutrition that plagued her homeland.
