Europe would do just fine without Facebook and Instagram, state with emphasis two European politicians in response to "Threats" of Meta.

Η Meta indirectly "threatened" that Facebook and Instagram might need to be shut down in Europe due to the new rules on data privacy, and at least two European politicians they think this would be a good idea.

European regulators are currently drafting new legislation that will place additional restrictions on how data is transferred from EU citizens to the US. As a result, the Meta issued an indirect threat that it might be forced to withdraw social networking platforms in Europe, in a report made last Thursday at CNBC.

The two EU politicians who do not seem to be sweating their ears from the "threats" of Meta, are the German Minister of Economy Robert Habek and French Finance Minister Bruno Lemerre, who according Bloomberg stated emphatically that: “Europe would do just fine without Facebook and Instagram".

After the Hack that happened, I lived without Facebook and Twitter for four years, and life was fantastic., said ο Hubeck at an event in Paris on Monday.

I can confirm that life is very good without Facebook and that we would live very well without it. The digital giants need to understand that the European continent will resist and assert its sovereignty., added o The Mayor.

The pair of European politicians made the above comments in response to Meta's threat. In particular, Meta stated that if it can not use existing agreements to transfer user data back to Servers based in the US, "will probably not be able to offer some of its most important και products and services in Europe».

Habeck said that the European Union has "such a large internal market with so much economic power that if we act together we will not be intimidated by such a thing».

A Meta spokesman, however, said in a new statement to CNBC, that the company does not want or has any plans at the moment to withdraw from the European market. The company spokesman even added that Meta has expressed similar concerns about data confidentiality in previous statements made in the past.

However, he added that Meta and other companies "rely on data transfers between the EU and the US in order for their global services to function smoothly».

If EU regulations ban data transfer to the US are passed, Meta said in its annual report that this change would "significantly and adversely affected our business, our financial situation and the results of our work».
