Research: Mobile purchases are on the rise in Greece during the coronavirus era

Η research shows that the majority of online stores had an increase in turnover during its period COVID-19.

The restriction of the movement of citizens has positively affected the traffic of e-shops in most branches of e-commerce. Turnover increase

The survey also shows that the majority of online stores had an increase in turnover during the period COVID-19. 17,71% answered that the turnover increased over 60%, 35,42% that it strengthened up to 60% and 4,86% that it remained stable. A percentage of 25,35% answer that it decreased up to 60% and a 16,67% that it decreased more than 60%.

An increase is also observed in the average of the order for the majority of online stores, which participated in the survey. 13,54% found that it increased over 60%, 28,47% to 60%, 17,36% that it remained stable, while 19,7% that it decreased to 60% and 20,83% that it fell over 60%.

The role of social media

Social media - according to the research - is one of the main channels, which feed the online stores with traffic. 43,70% of the companies in the sample state that their traffic through social media has increased, 28,5% that it has remained stable and 19,3% that it has decreased.

Another interesting finding of the study is that the increase in traffic is mainly supported by new users. 61,03% of e-shop representatives answered positively to the question whether the pandemic crisis brought new customers to eshops, while 28,68% have the opposite view.

The research also confirms that the delivery of orders made by courier companies is evolving into a big wound for ecommerce. This, at least, states 66,91% of respondents, while the opposite view is held by 22,79% (66).
