e-scooters: 80% of drivers do not wear a helmet, despite the many injuries!

According to one research run by an American insurance company, one 40% of drivers e-scooter either he is involved, or he knows someone who is involved, in someone car accident.

Τα e scooters (electric skates) have definitely changed her picture of travel within the city, as it is a fast, inexpensive and accessible means. However, with the rapid growth of e-scooters has been observed and rapid increase of accidents related to them (in fact, a few weeks ago we had the death of an e-scooter driver in France).

In a urban environment, where electric skates are called to "coexist" with cars and other means of transport, it makes sense to increase the risk of accidents. According to a survey conducted by an American insurance company, one 40% e-scooter drivers are either involved or know someone who is involved, in someone car accident.

In fact, the special element that emerged from the research is that 80% of respondents revealed that is not used to to wear helmet during his movements with an electric skate.

The same study revealed that they are noted 20 injuries per 100.000 routes with electric skates and almost half of the drivers involved in an accident hit their heads, with 15% of them seriously injured. It is indicative that in 190 recorded incidents of electric skate accidents that drivers needed Medical Support just one was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

It is worth noting that the 62% sqResearch participants are aware that not wearing a helmet when riding their electric skate is dangerous, but few are accustomed to wearing a helmet with reverence.

The European Union and the Ministry of Transport are constantly creating and processing the final legal frame, which will include electric skates, however all drivers who use electric skates must put their own safety in the foreground, using a helmet.
