Η Microsoft announced on Friday that Bill Gates resigns from the Board of Directors of the company.
ΣAccording to the announcement, Gates decided to leave the board of the technology giant in order to devote more time to charitable activities, however he will retain an advisory role.
«It has been a great honor and privilege to work together and learn from Bill all these years» said the CEO of Microsoft, Satia Nandella.
Ο Gates is one of Microsoft's top shareholders, holding 1,36% of the shares, according to FactSet.
The American tycoon that founded Microsoft in 1975 with him Paul Allen, who died in 2018. Gates served as CEO until 2000, when he took over the role of Steve Ballmer. The current CEO of Microsoft, Satya Nadella, took office in 2014. Gates was the Chairman of the Board of Microsoft until 2014.
