ΑChanges in small parcel charges from third countries come after his decision Board of Directors of ELTA to adjust the special fees related to the customs clearance procedures for postal items.

In particular, from the beginning of this month, a customs duty of 15 euros is applied even in low value packages which will be cleared through customs.
Explain that postal items are presented at the Customs, where at the stage of their sorting they are separated from the customs officials, into "free items" and items that must pass through the Customs.
Until yesterday, even some of the marked "free objects", which also receive the characteristic green marking label, were selected to undergo customs sampling. If it was found to be worth less than € 22, it was classified as customs free, and therefore they are not charged with VAT and duties, nor were the customs clearance fee of ELTA charged.
This is what changes with the special circular. If the customs free package happens to be included in a sample customs control then upon receipt we will have to pay a customs duty of 15 euros. In case our package is not selected for sampling customs control by the customs, then the package will pass and reach our house without the additional charge of 15 euros.
The charges
Now the charges for purchases from third countries, outside the EU, countries are shaped as follows:
- For packages worth 0-22 € there will be customs clearance fees of 15 €, if they pass a sample check
- For packages worth 22-150 € there are customs duties of 15 € + VAT 24%
- For packages worth more than 150 € there are customs duties of 15 € -50 € depending on the cost of the package, + VAT 24% + Customs duties.
According to the circular, this fee covers the management costs of ELTA for the implementation of the foreseen customs procedure.

There is European law that prohibits all Member States from imposing customs duties in excess of the value of parcels. One can not pay 15 euro customs duties for a parcel of equal or less value.
