Thessaloniki: Bricks and students in μική space orbit in a robotics event

Thousands of bricks and students "traveled" on Sunday in space προ proposing solutions to realistic problems faced by astronauts!

ΣA total of 46 teams, of which 16 qualified, from all over Northern Greece, participated in the qualifying matches for the First Lego League, claiming a place in the grand final which will be held in about a month in Thessaloniki. It is noted that the First Lego League (FLL) is a global robotics event, in the form of a competition, for children aged 9 to 16 years. Exclusive organizer for Greece and Cyprus is the Philosophical Non-Profit Association eduACT, which aims to promote innovative educational practices and technology, in co-organization for this season with TIF HELEXPO.

According to Dimitris Boufidis of FLL, because this year the competition is called "Into Orbit", ie children are invited to find something that affects humans in long-distance space travel and to suggest an innovative idea that might help to overcome it ".

"At the same time, they build and program a robot while they are judged for the effort they make to work as a team" clarifies Mr. Boufidis.

Like the Space Maniacs team that studied the dark side of the moon, which "hidden from the earth, is not bombarded by terrestrial radio and television signals, many of which succeed and propagate in space." Seeking their peace, the Space Maniacs settle on the dark side and respond to the problem of communicating with the base astronauts, proposing a system of two satellites that act as transponders of the communication signals that the astronauts will transmit when they want to "call" the spacecraft. .

The SWAST.RE 100 team (space waste and spaceship trash recycling) provides a solution for space debris with a construction that includes a brain and a special bag.

The brain has lasers to destroy large debris, garbage cameras, calipers to collect them, and an esophagus-like mouthpiece to pass the debris through the bag. Through the navigation center that communicates with the earth, the bag is detached with a special parachute while it can be anchored since it also has lifebuoys to avoid sinking!
