WiFi 6E: The new standard for the 6GHz band has become official

Note, however, that the range of 6GHz is not yet available for Wi-Fi networks, as regulatory approvals are pending in many countries around the world. This is expected to happen soon enough, as the FCC in the US has already expressed its intention to make this frequency available for the needs of Wi-Fi networks. If this happens, then the competent regulatory authorities in Europe and Asia will follow immediately.

The first devices are expected to be certified with the standard Wi-Fi 6E will obviously be smartphones and home routers, while professional solutions will follow. It is also emphasized by the Wi-Fi Alliance that the Wi-Fi 6E will greatly assist augmented and virtual reality devices, and will solve the problem of "congestion" of WiFi networks once it opens 14 additional channels at 80MHz and 7 additional channels at 160MHz.

Keep in mind, however, that the higher frequency spectrum may provide higher speeds and more capacity for data transfer, but it has a much smaller range and is more easily blocked by physical obstacles. Therefore, its range Wi-Fi 6E will be complementary to existing frequencies and not to replace them.
