The viral online reports claiming that the coronavirus was caused and transmitted by 5G networks they are completely non-existent.
H False and biased belief that 5G networks are causing a global health crisis is finding more and more supporters amid a new conspiracy theory, based on which the global coronavirus pandemic was caused by 5G. Obviously this is not the case.
One of the people responsible for spreading this stupid idea on Twitter is Keri Hilson, an R&B artist with 4.2 million followers on Twitter and another 2.3 million followers on Instagram.
She has now deleted her tweet (in a follow-up tweet she wrote "Management has asked me to delete vid / articles"), which she got from the user "chakabars" (839.000 followers on Instagram), from a completely random chiropractor named Gloriane Giovanelli and from a Wikipedia quote that appeared in the search "Who invented 5G?" (Who Invented 5G?).
The most "fancy" source Hilson used is a completely paranoid video she posted on her Instagram, where a man with his name tag backwards claims that the 1918 flu pandemic was caused by the invention of the radio. and that the 1968 flu in Hong Kong was caused by "satellites that emit radioactive frequencies."
Recently, in Greece, many have begun to support the stupid view that 5G is responsible for the coronavirus pandemic, arguing that the 5G emblem is similar in form to the virus. Featured is the video of the user "Amazing Dio" at YouTube, which so far has just over 360.000 views.
The Phone Scoop published an article a few months ago on whether it is safe to use 5G technology and a similar article was published in PCMag Greece. Without going into details about why 5G networks are generally safe for public health, we will make some arguments to disprove the recent conspiracy theories linking 5G to the spread of the coronavirus.
- 5G coverage in cities was available in the US long before it became available in China. In China, 5G was launched in 50 cities on November 1, but Sprint provided 5G coverage in 9 US cities a few months earlier. So if 5G was responsible for the spread of the coronavirus, the pandemic should have started in the US and not in China.
- COVID-19 is transmitted in areas that do not have 5G. Densely populated Japan with 963 cases does not have 5G, nor of course our country. Of course, one can bring the example of Italy, the country that has the most cases of coronavirus after China. Italy with 41.035 cases has a 5G network, however Iran with 18.407 cases does not have 5G infrastructure. It is a given that if 5G were responsible for the spread of the virus there would not be so many thousands of cases in Iran.
The conclusion; Stay safe, stay home and do not listen to those who try to sow panic.
