146 vulnerabilities were found in Android smartphones of 29 different manufacturers

In a new detailed report, the security company Kryptowire he revealed 146 different vulnerabilities in Android.

ΜIn fact, these vulnerabilities exist in devices from 29 different manufacturers, including Samsung, Asus, Xiaomi and Sony.

Kryptowire discovered the vulnerabilities with an automated firmware scan tool it uses and it appears that most of the vulnerability-based manufacturers are based in Asia.

The worst part of all of this is that these vulnerabilities the smartphones carry them out of the box, so the user can not do anything. At least until the company fixes it through a software update, if it can.

What are the vulnerabilities of Android?

The Android vulnerabilities identified by Kryptowire cover a wide variety of possibilities exploitation scenarios device. Some of the vulnerabilities allow unauthorized audio recording and the ability to modify certain system settings.

In fact, some of them exist because of the applications that are pre-installed on the system, while others come from the firmware of the device itself. So, in some cases they can not be treated effectively, at least not immediately.

Kryptowire has contacted the manufacturers and, according to the report, most claim that there is no fear exploiting these Android vulnerabilities.

According to the company, Samsung investigated the vulnerabilities and stressed to Kryptowire that the necessary measures have already been taken. The second, however, disagrees with the claims of the South Korean manufacturer and says that third party operators can still access private information inside the device without the user's permission.

Of course, Google has already taken steps to remove many of the vulnerabilities that come pre-installed on Android devices. However, no matter how hard Google tries to "close the doors", if the manufacturers do not participate in the whole effort, then there will be no real solution.

Which Android smartphones are affected

Most manufacturers whose devices are affected by these vulnerabilities may be based in Asia, but many export devices to many markets worldwide.

Most phones on the list are mid-range smartphonessuch as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro, Sony's Xperia XZ and the Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus. Kryptowire CEO Angelos Stavrou believes that the main reason that vulnerabilities come bundled with devices is that manufacturers are sacrificing security for profit.
