A new malware which hits Android devices and allows hacker to steal personal information, such as bank codes from bank applications, "Wallets" of cryptocurrencies and shopping applications has become the new headache of authorities and users.

Το malware has been named SLEEP, means owl in russian and has numerous functions, to steal passwords and cookies, to record the keys that the user presses, to hide the notifications and to manipulate the clipboard in order to put different addresses in cryptocurrency wallets.

The virus was discovered in August by the Dutch cybersecurity company ThreatFabric. According to the company, the method used mainly by the software is the appearance of its own windows on another program, in order to steal the user's personal information.

By stealing session cookies, hackers can do log in to an account and take control of it by the user, without even having to know his bank codes.

This malware is still believed to be in the early stages of development, but its creators advertise it on hacker forums, where they seek to recruit testers who will try it on a large number of devices.
