Η Apple, and Samsung fail to make good sales in China. The former currently has a sales ban on its non-X devices while the latter has almost disappeared from the market. According to reports, the Korean giant has officially closed its factory in Tianjin before the beginning of 2019. This is the second padlock, after the closure of the factory in Shenzhen in mid-2018.
The Tianjin plant employed about 2.600 workers, 90% of whom have so far signed resignation letters accepting compensation from the company. Some received an extra form of compensation plus an offer to be transferred to other Samsung factories.
Samsung's investment in power batteries and MLCC (multilayer capacitor ceramics) at the Tianjin plant will be completed this year. Closing is a method of the company to become more flexible in the market when there is no other project for the specific factory, this had no reason to exist. The other factories in Huizhou are fully mobile manufacturing.
