Η Qualcomm announced the young Snapdragon Wear 4100 and Snapdragon Wear 4100+ for the next generation smartwatch.
ΜQualcomm may be the first company in the world to supply SoC for smartphones and fight in the field of PCs, but the company for several years has been established in the field of smartwatch.
Qualcomm has announced the new Snapdragon Wear 4100 and Snapdragon Wear 4100+ for the next generation smartwatch. The new platform offers a quad-core Cortex-A53 processor, along with the Adreno 504 GPU and support for LPDDR3 RAM (750MHz). Together, the company offers dual ISP for camera support up to 16MP, which is big enough for a smartwatch.
The new SoCs are designed at 12nm and perform up to 85% better than the current Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform. processor to take action when someone activates the screen.
The difference between the two versions is that the Snapdragon Wear 4100+ will include the basic SoC (SDM429w or SDA429w) and the AON co-processor (QCC1110), along with various chips such as PMIC, RF for Modem / GPS and RFEE. On the other hand, the Snapdragon Wear 4100 will only include the SoC, along with the basic chips that come with it.
Thanks to 12nm technology, the company promises lower consumption of up to 25% compared to today's smartwatch, which may give the Wear OS platform the necessary boost. Qualcomm has not announced when we will see the first smartwatches with these SoCs, however it is safe to assume that we will see in the third quarter of the year.
