Despite the Apple reactions in the European Union bill for a common charger on all mobile devices, the EU voted in favor of the bill.
ΣToday, the European Parliament voted in favor of the bill, with 582 votes in favor and 40 against, and the vision of Europeans is becoming a reality after almost 10 years of debate.
The rationale behind today's decision is to reduce e-waste, as it is estimated that about 50 million tonnes are produced each year worldwide, ie almost 6kg per person. More specifically, in Europe the corresponding figures are 12.3 million tonnes and 16.6kg per inhabitant of the continent, with the EU describing it as an "environmental outflow" that can be reduced.
