ΤThe convenience and immediacy of e-shopping seems to be increasingly appreciated by Greek Internet users with three out of five Greeks having made at least one online purchase in the last 6 months, according to a survey by Focus Bari.
As expected, users are more familiar with online shopping aged 25 to 44 years, with the percentage of those who have bought products and services from an online store in the last six months reaching the 72%. On the other hand older internet users sparsely fill up their digital cart. According to Focus Bari, the percentage of those who have made an online purchase in the last six months is only 35%.
The growing penetration of e-commerce is also driven by the growing penetration of smartphone use. It is worth noting that 82% of Greeks have a "smart" mobile phone in their possession, the 77% say they prefer to connect to the Internet from their smartphone while 46% answered that they browse the Internet via mobile phone for at least one hour a day. Respectively in households, 83% of whom have internet access, the connection is made mainly from the smartphone (88%) and secondarily the laptop (62%).
In this case, too, young people have the upper hand. Indicatively to mention that the Greeks spend an average of 3,5 hours a day online, while at a younger age the involvement with the Internet is skyrocketing. People aged 13 to 44 spend about 4 hours a day on the Internet, especially young people 18 to 24 years old the average daily use is 5 hours.
As for the favorite pastimes of Greeks on the Internet, social media comes first, with three out of five visiting them daily and one in two engaging in social media at least one hour a day - more than an hour is devoted to one in four.
Finally, pay-TV, which is an integral part of Greek entertainment, tends to become a favorite habit, as 1,542 million households declare that they have pay tv.
