Warning: New Android Trojan steals financial data from 378 banking and wallet applications

Security researchers have discovered a new Android trojan that targets banking applications, called ERMAC, and which comes from the infamous malware Cerberus.


Αthis new Android trojans is capable of stealing data from above 370 banking and wallet applications.

The first attempts with the use ERMAC developed by the same group that created the virus BlackRock for mobile is believed to have started in late August under the auspices of the app Google Chrome, according to ThreatFabric CEO Cengiz Han Sahin, who he said that:

The new trojan already has active distribution campaigns and targets 378 banking and wallet applications with overlays.



It has now been discovered that banks, the multimedia players, delivery services, government applications and antivirus solutions such as McAfee, are targeted by these attacks.

Forum posts reveal new findings

It is noteworthy that the findings of the Dutch cybersecurity company , which are based almost entirely on the infamous banking Trojan Cerberus, come from posts on the forum made by an actor by name DukeEugene last month at 17 August.
