The researchers achieved record transmission within one 2,400 km long fiber optic cable. It should be noted, however, that this technology, at least in the first phase, is not for home use. In other words, one will not be able to use this technology in a short time to "download" countless movies to your home computer in a few seconds.
The technology is intended for the networks of broadband internet connection providers. Researchers say these speeds are now essential for infrastructure to meet the new, much-needed demands of 5G networks and networks of so-called Internet of Things (IOT).
