MIUI 9.8.5 Beta: Adds dual clock - shortcut bar below the keyboard and "Dual WLAN Acceleration"

In the last MIUI 9.8.5 Beta, it is revealed that the Xiaomi intends to add one shortcut bar which will be located below the on-screen keyboard, as well as a connectivity feature Dual Wi-Fi which will be called "WLAN dual acceleration".

ΟMIUI BETA versions are used by Xiaomi to test all the new features for a wide range of its devices, running custom UX over Android.

It's always exciting to be the first to see what the future holds for Xiaomi device users, and these BETA distributions of MIUI ROMs - note that they are now only available in China editions and not in Global - always give us the opportunity to notice some of these new and upcoming changes in the company's operating system.

These Beta versions also give us clues as to what to expect from future devices - as well as features such as function reverse wireless charging for example.

So in the latest MIUI 9.8.5 Beta it is revealed that Xiaomi intends to add a line of shortcuts that will be located below the on-screen keyboard, as well as a Dual Wi-Fi connection feature called "Dual Acceleration WLAN". The latest beta version also adds a dual clock function to the clock widget.

Double watch

The dual clock function is confirmed directly by Xiaomi through it MIUI account on Weibo .

In the latest beta, you can turn on the dual clock for the home screen clock widget by going to Settings >> Additional settings >> Date and time >> Dual clock. This new feature is useful, especially if you need to tune your watch to a different part of the world.

Keyboard shortcut bar

In MIUI 9.8.5, we also find strings that indicate that Xiaomi plans to add a shortcut bar below the keyboard.

The shortcut bar will add some shortcuts that will be easy to access each time the virtual keyboard appears on the screen. What these shortcuts will be is unknown at this time, but they may include a shortcut to cut, copy and paste, and other word-based editing options. These shortcuts could also be used to quickly launch other applications.

Dual Wi-Fi acceleration / dual WLAN

Dual Wi-Fi connection has recently been introduced in the new SoCs series, MediaTek Helio G90, which incorporated this new feature of dual Wi-Fi connectivity as a feature of gaming technology HyperEngine. Oppo also recently announced that the connection Dual Wi-Fi is a feature of the devices Oppo reno.

The lines of code in the new version of the MIUI beta show that Xiaomi is also working on a similar feature.

WLAN dual acceleration will allow a smartphone to connect to two Wi-Fi zones or two routers at the same time. This will increase the overall connection speed of the device and greatly improve the overall network speed. It will be a very useful feature for downloading large files and for games.
