MediaTek: Announces new i700 SoC with unique features!

Yesterday, the MediaTek announced the platform iAIT i700 with high speed, AI computing capabilities, for face recognition.

Ο SoC design is based on a microprocessor that integrates all processing units, including CPU, GPU, ISP and AI.

Η platform i700 adopts octa-core architecture, integrating two ARM Cortex-A75 processors at 2,2GHz and six Cortex-A55 processors at 2,0GHz. There is an IMG 9XM-HP8 graphics processor running at 970MHz. In addition, the platform is equipped with MediaTek CorePilot technology, ensuring that the eight cores can be used in the best possible way. This results in the highest possible efficiency with the lowest power consumption.

Artificial Intelligence

MediaTek stated that the i700 platform continues to use the powerful AI mechanism, however it comes not only with a built-in dual-core AI mechanism but also with an AI accelerator. There is also an AI face detection engine that increases AI power up to 5 times better than the previous iMoT i500 platform. The microprocessor supports MediaTek NeuroPilot SDK, which is fully compatible with Google's Android Neural Networks API (Android NNAPI). Provides comprehensive development tools that allow mobile and other device makers to take advantage of standard frameworks such as TensorFlow, TF Lite, Caffe and Caffe2.

In terms of photography, the MediaTek i700 can support a 32-megapixel camera or a combination of a 24MP and 16MP dual camera. Supports up to 30 frames per second (FPS) and 120FPS Ultra HD slow motion video. At the same time, the platform supports Wi-Fi 2 × 2 802.11ac technology, Bluetooth 5.0 low power while supporting up to Cat12 through 4 × 4 MIMO and triple-carrier aggregation technology. The MediaTek i700 can also provide support for identifying and paying for unmanned stores, as well as support for accessing smart buildings and systems through face recognition. The platform will be available in 2020.
