The gang LockBit ransomware has claimed responsibility for the attack on digital security giant Entrust, with the data breach said to have taken place last June.

The confirmation from Trust happened in late July, with the company claiming it is investigating the incident and has found no evidence that customer data was compromised. At the same time the company sent a notification to its customers about a potential vulnerability, which it says was “superficial', and it was not disclosed what data may have been stolen, nor which customers were affected.

These are the companies that are among Entrust's customers at risk

His team lockbit he is also threatening to wait no longer and publish all of Entrust's customer data. To her customers Trust including giant companies, such as: Visa and Mastercard, Microsoft, VMWare, NXP and Square.

Η Trust has yet to reveal more details about the attack, and has not confirmed whether it was an attack by Trojan Ransomware, but his team lockbit has now claimed responsibility for the attack and according to the security researcher Dominic Alvieri, his team lockbit has created an exclusive data leak page from Trust on its website, to post all the stolen data there if Entrust doesn't finally give in to their blackmail.

This probably indirectly states that the Trust has not negotiated with cybercriminals or refuses to give in to their demands.

The lockbit is currently considered one of the most active hacker groups, and therefore among the most dangerous groups that use ransomware Trojan. According to her analysis Malwarebytes, only last July were there 61 known attacks from his team lockbit in various companies around the world.

There were also indications that up to the 50 percent of victims eventually paid the ransom – which is also a record and is mainly due to the fact that the attacks are done professionally and companies do not officially announce the attack they received, but prefer to pay the ransom to avoid the negative impact it will have on their customer base.
