Google: Ends user tracking for advertising purposes!

Google is making a radical change in the policy that has made it a giant on the Internet (and not only).

Η  company announced through its official blog that will stop exploiting users's navigation history for advertising purposesWhile will stop the development of tools that monitor users' personal data in all applications - services - products!

As he says david temkin, head of department Product Management, Ads Privacy and Trust Google,

Users should not tolerate monitoring their Internet activity in order to benefit from targeted ads. And advertisers do not need to track consumers online to make money from their ads.

Yes, you do read well, as unlikely as it may seem this is now the official position of Google! This does not mean, however, that from now on we will run naked in green meadows to the sounds of the harp and smell the roses. The company will continue to collect data from users and use it to sell ads, however, the way they are collected will change.

Very soon, the model of exporting data from each user individually will be replaced by much more sophisticated APIs that will group users into specific categories based on their activity. Simply put, Google will not specifically collect data e.g. of Christos who is looking for exhausts for Mitrogol's duck, but will place him in a wider group of users with similar concerns and will collect the data en masse without matching it exclusively with him.

As you can see, her new model Google will make correlations based on users' navigation history to interest groups and the data given to advertisers will be a great “remix”Of these preferences that will not lead specifically to a user (eg fans of Areos who deal with motorcycles, technology and akanedes of Serres). This way there will be a form of privacy protection, without losing the privileges of targeted advertising.

The tests of the new API will start in April and within the next quarter will start distributing to advertisers, while users will see new privacy options in Chrome browser relating to this policy change.
