[Survey] Facebook Messenger collects more personal data than any other application

One was performed research by Invisibly , in which it is recorded that 82% of the respondents accept the new measures implemented by the various technology companies to limit the collection of personal data.

ΤMany of the tech giants have begun to reconsider their privacy policy, Apple, to have already made many changes in this area through iOS 14.5.

Undoubtedly, it will now become more complicated for application developers to collect its user data Apple,, and the same will happen with Android 12, while the Google will not provide open information to its customers.

Η Google of course it will continue to collect data from its users, but this information will be locked and will not be able to be shared with others.

Search by Invidibly for personal data

In this context, conducted by Invisibly one research, in which it is recorded that the 82% respondents accept the new measures implemented by the various technology companies to limit the collection of personal data.

In addition, at 76% Respondents do not like to receive targeted ads on the internet and demand that this practice be stopped. The 68% believes that the confidentiality of personal data is very important, and paradoxically, it is against 11% more men than women who say they do not mind receiving targeted online ads.

Concerning the invisible, is a platform that enables mobile device users to make money by selling their data to advertisers. This may sound unacceptable, but in reality, we already provide our personal information to advertisers completely free of charge and without even knowing it many times.

In the other interesting statistics that come from this research, it is revealed that from 16 May, the 15% of its users Apple, have already licensed third-party applications to monitor their personal data.

If you remember, Apple recently started releasing the update on iOS 14.5, which brings the so-called transparency feature (Transparency feature), which requires application developers to ask users if they want to provide their personal information in order to send ads.

In addition, in the US, the 6% Apple's iOS users, allows trackers to track and collect location information.

Some applications collect more data

Interestingly, there are several applications that collect more data than others.

  • In the category of messaging and video calling, the Facebook Messenger is at the top of the list and collects the most personal data while Cisco Webex Meetings collects the least.
  • Respectively, in social media applications, the Facebook again at the top with the collection of most personal data, while on the contrary Clubhouse the least.
  • In the "Navigation" category, the Waze GPS is at the top, while on the contrary InRoute does not collect data at all.

Obviously, the most popular applications also collect most user data, but there are some applications that do not need user data at all to survive. Instead of collecting and selling users' personal data to advertising companies, these applications typically charge a fee for using the application.

Research reveals that social media and food delivery apps require more data from users, something we already knew.
