The European Parliament calls on its legislators EU to ban use of face recognition technology, as well as other monitoring tools used primarily by the Authorities.

ΟMEPs have finally introduced and voted in favor of a measure requiring a permanent ban on technology "automated analysis and / or identification" from "police and judicial authorities in criminal matters».

Under this scenario, law enforcement authorities will not be allowed to conduct biometric surveillance in public places - and Strict restriction on the use of technology that collects personal data through fingerprints, voice, DNA and other biometric data. The measure also proposes banning face-recognition databases operated by private companies.

MEPs argue that face recognition technology is not ready and that an appropriate regulatory framework for privacy must be developed before it can be used by the police.

In general, Europe is making significant efforts to establish a strict framework for the protection of privacy, which is by no means the case in America.
