Η Corsair acquired the computer manufacturing company OriginPC in order to expand their market USA.
Α"We have decided to take advantage of the growing market as more consumers move from traditional consoles to computers," the company said in a statement today.
Although Corsair is a well-known brand in technology, many buyers prefer companies like Origin to build their own computers, said Andy Paul, CEO of Corsair.
"We wanted to do more to reach customers in North America where consumers prefer to buy rather than build their own system," he said in a statement. The financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.
California-based Corsair already provides a huge range of accessories and peripherals, including keyboards, cooling fans, power supplies, and RAM. So you can expect more components to end up in Origin products, which include laptops and workstations.
The first element to be integrated into the products will be the Hydro X water coolers. However, Origin customers will still have the freedom to choose parts from other top brands and sellers.
Despite today's acquisition, Corsair and Origin will remain separate brands. Origin will continue to be headquartered in Miami, Florida. "All existing Origin Computer warranties, purchases and support are unaffected and will continue to be provided by Origin PC's global customer support team," the companies added.
Corsair will continue to produce its own systems, including the Corsair One and Corsair One Pro, while Origin PC products will allow interested buyers to customize their computers on their website.
Although the gaming PC market fell slightly in the first quarter of this year, research firm IDC expects that this will not continue for the rest of the year. "IDC expects that the market for desktops and laptops will grow by 7,3% in 2019, reaching 41,5 million units," said a survey last month. "Sales growth, new business models such as pay-per-view services and an abundance of video games will continue to drive the market forward."
