AMD Ryzen 9 5900X "Vermeer": It is reported that it will clock at 5 GHz and will have over 20% better IPC

The supposed specifications of the Ryzen 9 5900X "Vermeer" leaked from the internet channel, PC WELT.

Η  AMD seems determined this time to sweep across all benchmarks offering the highest possible timings on a chip with a large number of cores.

According to the source, Ryzen 9 5900X will be the fastest Zen 3 chip to be released by AMD in a while. It will have 12 cores and 24 processing threads. From previous information we know that AMD will initially announce at least 2 SKUs, the Ryzen 9 5900X (12c / 24t) and the Ryzen 7 5800X (8c / 16t). Of course there will be other SKUs in the 5000 series referred to as “Family 19h, Models 20h-2Fh Vermeer".

In terms of specifications, Ryzen 9 5900X will have ~ 20% improvement in IPC compared to the previous generation. AMD's efforts to improve timing probably paid off the 5900X will reach a boost timing of 5 GHz. If this is true, then we are talking about + 300MHz compared to the Ryzen 9 3900XT and + 400MHz compared to the Ryzen 9 3900X.

Such an increase in timing will also result in an increase in TDP to 150W (from the 105W of the 3900X). However, the TDP stated by AMD is very close to the actual requirements of the chip, in contrast to the TDP stated by Intel and which refers to the PL1 (base) status. The 7nm + integration scale will help AMD maintain the edge in the efficiency of its chips.

There have already been reports of sample Zen 3 chips clocked at 4,9 GHz, so this 5 GHz information does not seem unrealistic in conjunction with the increase in TDP. "Sunday short celebration" says our people and on October 8 we will find out what AMD really has in store for us.
