FidelityFX: Expected in the coming weeks from AMD in response to Nvidia DLSS

Η AMD gave us an idea of FidelityFX Super Resolution coming to compete with DLSS, during the presentation of Radeon RX 6000 cards.

Τwhen, h AMD claimed that its solution was under development and that it was working with game developers to apply the technology to their games. Since then, we have little or no information, while at the same time the NVIDIA has drastically modified the DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling).

Η NVIDIA started with AI-based hyper-sampling technology from 2018, when the GeForce RTX 20 series based on the Turing architecture was introduced. The DLSS-1.0 had a rather difficult start, as there were not many games that used this feature. At the same time, while users were seeing some impressive performance gains, they also had a loss of image quality that was often very blurry compared to gaming in native resolution with standard AA methods.

This has changed over time and DLSS-2.0 showed the true form of possibility with impressive performance gains while maintaining, at the same time, almost similar image quality to native resolution. Today, DLSS is constantly updated, with The Medium and Cyberpunk 2077 be the latest titles that allow 8K gaming on RTX 30 cards.

The DLSS Difference Makes NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series Graphics Cards Outperform AMD AMD Radeon RX 6000. It seems, however, that AMD solution is very close to its official release with the company planning to release a major update of the Adrenaline Radeon software around March 2021, which will include two important additions: The first is, obviously, its addition FidelityFX Super Resolution, while the second is an update to Radeon Boost.

According to the information, the infinity cache will also be quite beneficial for FidelityFX Super Resolution while technology can be activated through games, where supported, as well as DLSS. On the other hand, the new AMD Radeon Boost feature will help resolve some issues related to dynamic escalation, a feature that scales the resolution in games to lower values to increase performance when there is not much action.

Overall, it seems that the next "big" update of Radeon Adrenaline will be important, especially for owners Radeon 6000 graphics cards.
