AMD: The updated Adrenalin 2020 Edition Driver has been made available!

His biggest change Adrenalin Driver of AMD is coming this year, at the end of 2019, marking at the same time a big turn of the company.

ΚTaking a look back at the past, software was one of AMD's key weaknesses however the first big steps for the company were taken shortly before ATi merged with AMD over a decade ago.

In 2016, with the launch of the RX 480, AMD's latest GCN graphics card (the last being Vega), AMD improved its drivers considerably and tried to stay competitive, something that was not enough behind the hardware, the which did not live up to market expectations until the release of RDNA graphics cards, where AMD showed us the RX 5700 XT for a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels where it finds strong resistance from NVIDIA's RTX 2070 SUPER. So AMD has to get the most out of the card by playing with its drivers, who run quite well in the latest generation, but now it's time for the first refresh.

AMD's new drivers are called Adrenalin 2020 Edition and started to be given to gamers by 10 December of 2019 supporting all recent generations of cards. The company mentions, among other things, a significant improvement compared to last year's drivers that were released in the same period, while important steps have been taken to improve the stability of the software since June 2018.

Radeon Software includes several plugins, many of which are now available in the game, so you never have to press Alt + Tab again. When we first open the application, we have to choose between three options for how to use the PC. These are Gaming, eSports and Standard, each of which activates a number of settings such as Image Sharpening, AntiLag and the activation of automatic video recording of each game we play, which fits a streamer.

From Home tab we can see an overview of things that happen in our system, such as the game we play, the average FPS it has given us for a particular period as well as that media we have shot in that game.

The Gaming tab allows us to start a game immediately without leaving the application but also to do tuning for optimal performance. Tuning practically refers to the overclocking of the GPU and in this menu it becomes even easier even for novice users with options such as auto undervolt GPU and auto overclock GPU, which for security reasons AMD warns us that we may see artifacts. The Streaming tab offers options for the aspiring streamer who wants to have control of his stream without leaving the game while it is noted that it works with the desktop of the PC.

Most of the driver features go through the previous versions but there are some like Radeon Boost showing interest and brand new. It practically adjusts the image quality according to the movement that exists by dropping the resolution where it is not perceived, something that can bring up to 38% higher performance in the first games that will support it, among them Overwatch, Destiny 2, PUBG, GTA V, Borderlands 3 and a few more.

These features are also mentioned in the press release.
Radeon Boost - Delivers up to a 23 percent average performance boost during fast-motion gaming scenarios by dynamically reducing image resolution, increasing framerates and fluidity, and bolstering responsiveness with little to no perceptible change in image quality5. Radeon Boost will be supported in numerous top games at launch, with additional titles added over time.

AMDLink - Featuring an updated interface that matches the new desktop application look and feel, the AMD Link mobile application now allows users to take game streaming to mobile devices outside of their homes, enabling high-quality PC gameplay on phones or tablets from anywhere.
Integer Display Scaling - Scales on-screen images from one pixel to four or more, giving classic games a retro, pixel-art style look with ultra-crisp scaling options for high-PPI displays without a performance penalty.

DirectML Media Filters - Visual noise reduction and upscaling filters utilize machine learning to clean up photo and video files, delivering better quality than traditional de-noise and upscale filters.

Radeon ™ Image Sharpening and Radeon Anti-Lag - Radeon Image Sharpening3 adds support for DirectX® 11 games in addition to DX® 9, DX® 12, and Vulkan® titles, and the feature now allows an adjustment for users to select the degree of sharpness. Radeon ™ Anti-Lag4 adds support for DX® 9 titles on pre-Radeon ™ RX 5000 series graphics cards.
