YouTube announced a new sleep reminder feature Wednesday to remind even the most dedicated night owl to log off late at night.
Αthis new feature substantially extends the platform's existing reminders to “time out”Released in 2018 as part of Google Digital Wellbeing.
According to Google, the ultimate goal is to help all users use Google products more responsibly, an issue that became very acute during the coronavirus pandemic, as more and more of our time is devoted to we look at the screens. YouTube says it has sent 3 billion reminders like "take a break" the last two years.
Now, with the new sleep reminders, according to YouTube, you will be able to set "specific times to stop watching a video and (yes you guessed it!) Go to bed."
You will also be able to set the start and end times of these reminders through the app settings, and whether or not you want this message to pause a video or wait for it to finish. You will also be able to ignore or postpone the reminder.
YouTube says the new feature will be available for Android and iOS devices from today, but it will likely take a few days to make it available to everyone.
