Xiaomi tested in a prototype Xiaomi 13, a solid-state battery with an extremely high capacity in 6000mAh, which has the same dimensions as their battery 4500mAh which powers all the recently launched Xiaomi 13s. So it becomes immediately apparent that the new solid state battery technology has a significantly higher capacity than the conventional batteries powering Smartphones today.
High resistance to low temperatures
Solid state batteries are more reliable during the winter due to the improvement in 20% in discharge efficiency in low temperature conditions. The unique characteristics of the liquid used in the electrolytes of today's conventional batteries causes the viscosity of the liquid to increase dramatically at low temperatures, and when this happens, it blocks the free passage of ions.
This results in conventional batteries draining much faster in the cold, while batteries with solid state electrolytes are the best choice as they manage to maintain 20% more energy in low temperature conditions.
In the coming years, many of the new smartphone models that Xiaomi will make will use the new solid-state battery technology, which will significantly reduce the size of high-capacity batteries, while significantly reducing the overall thickness of the phone.
