Xiaomi presented today in China the new MIX Fold 3, which aspires to be the benchmark in the foldable Smartphone category
After a very long speech that was about the history of Xiaomi, its future goals, but also about how the company will compete with its competitors, the Lei Jun introduced the company's newest foldable phone – the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3.
This fresh foldable is slim, has a sleek design and can be seen as its direct competitor Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 in all areas, and especially in relation to the incredible Value for Money it offers.
The cameras
So, the new MIX Fold 3 features a quad-camera setup on the back designed in collaboration with Leica. All cameras feature OIS (optical image stabilization), are equipped with ultra-thin lens sheets, and there's also a compact telephoto camera unit. The large island that houses the cameras and the LED Flash is slightly raised in relation to the rest of the body of the back.
The main camera of the device has a sensor at 50 MP with diaphragm f / 1.8 and optical image stabilization (OIS). The second camera has an Ultra Wide lens with a sensor at 13 MP, with f/2.4 aperture and 123-degree field of view.
The third camera is a telephoto lens with a sensor at 8 MP, with diaphragm f / 2.4, optical zoom 3.2x and OIS. In the fourth camera we have a periscopic lens with a sensor at 8 MP, with diaphragm f / 4.1, optical zoom 5x and OIS. The new MIX Fold 3 also supports hybrid zoom up to 30x and digital zoom up to 100x.
As far as the front cameras are concerned, there are two. One is located under the internal display with a sensor at 20MP and diaphragm f / 2.0, and a second one on the external screen, which has a sensor at 20MP with diaphragm f / 2.2.
Prices and availability
The MIX Fold 3 becomes available in China in two colors: the Star Gold and Moon Shadow Black, with the latter having a leather-like texture and being fingerprint resistant.
But in addition to these two color options, there is also a third version with a back cover from Dragon scale fiber, which is extremely tough – durable and light at the same time available at the same price.
The MIX Fold 3 becomes available in three memory options : a version with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, priced at 8.999 Chinese Yuan (about $1240), a second edition with 16GB RAM and 521GB storage priced at 9.999 Chinese Yuan (~$1380), but also a third more expensive variant with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, which is being made available at a price of 10.999 Chinese Yuan (~$1514).
New revolutionary hinge
The new MIX Fold 3 has a completely new and redesigned Hinge with technology zero articulation as the company emphasizes to us, which is the leader of all that have been released to date worldwide, changing the data in the Foldable Smartphone category.
This new hinge can withstand more than 500.000 folds, a number that in itself is really quite impressive.
The hinge also supports free-angle mode, allowing you to position the internal display at different angles between 45° and 135°.
The screens
As far as screens are concerned, the new Fold 3 has an internal one OLED display panel 8,03 inch with UTG overlay, which allows the MIX Fold 3 to be by one 12.5% thinner compared to last year's MIX Fold 2.
On the other hand, the external screen measures diagonally 6.56 inches and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. When unfolded, the inner screen, its diagonal extends to 8,03 inches, making it ideal for watching videos, playing various games and generally enjoying a tablet-sized screen. Also, thanks to the screen with UTG overlay, the internal screen is completely flat when fully unfolded, has a maximum brightness of up to 2600 nits, to ensure comfortable visibility even outdoors under sunlight. Both displays (internal and external) support a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
Processor and battery
The Xiaomi MIX Fold 3" is equipped with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which is combined by the velocities UFS 4.0 for storage and LPDDR5X for RAM.
Xiaomi's new foldable flagship is powered by battery at 4800mAh, which supports the wired fast charge at 67W and awired charging at 50W. According to what Xiaomi states, the new MIX Fold 3 has a battery life that can reach up to 22 hours after a full charge.

Greece when will it be released?
So far, none of the Foldables of the MIX Fold family have been released in any other country outside of China, and we don't think anything will change with the Mix Fold 3.
Of course, I wish we could see it released in Europe as well, but it's probably unlikely.
