The company is preparing to announce its new TV series, We TV 5 at an event scheduled for November 5 in the company's hometown, China. Now, a few days before the official presentation, Xiaomi has revealed the key features of the Mi TV 5 series, which are quite interesting.
The Mi TV 5 series will be released with Amlogic 12nm T972 chipset, which is said to support 8K video recording. This chipset is also said to be 63% more powerful than the previous generation processor. The SoC will be combined with 4GB of RAM and an impressive 64GB of internal storage.
It has also been confirmed that the Mi TV 5 series will feature 4K QLED panels covering NTSC 108% wide color gamut. The panel that is Quantum Dot will most likely be supplied by Samsung, which dominates this industry. Today's Mi TV 4 series TVs have either LCD or LED panels, so apparently with the Mi TV 5 series, Xiaomi wants to enter the premium device segment.
Unsurprisingly, Xiaomi is upgrading its devices by equipping them with Quantum Dot LEDs, as the recently released OnePlus TV also features Samsung's premium QLED panels. Thus, the manufacturer of Mi TV takes care to compete in the premium segment with its new generation models.
The company has published a teaser image of the upcoming Mi TV 5, giving us an idea on the right side of the device, where we can see the text "Designed by Xiaomi". Aside from how thin the construction is, there is not much we can see in this picture.
Along with the Mi TV 5, the company will also be announcing a number of other products at the November 5 event in China, including the Mi CC9 Pro smartphone, the Xiaomi Smartwatch and the Xiaomi Mi Portable Air Conditioner.
