According to new information, Xiaomi develops a new Smartphone that will have photochromic / electrochromic back that will change colors.
ΑThis information comes from the well-known Chinese tipster, Digital Chat Station, who posted this information through his official account at Weibo.
As tipster reports, the Xiaomi is already in the testing phase for this device, which means that this phone could be closer to the traffic than we thought, and this device will be equipped with a special photochromic or electrochromic technology.
But what is the difference between these two technologies?
The Vivo S10 for example, it uses a special photochromic backlight that changes color based on how the sun illuminates the back of the device. This change in color occurs thanks to the sun's ultraviolet rays.
Electrochromic technology on the other hand is something completely different. If you remember OnePlus ConceptOne, you will get a very good idea of what exactly this technology is. The color will be able to change when a certain amount of voltage is applied inside this piece of glass that is made with this technology.
The electrochromic back will be able to completely hide the cameras, for example, and then, when you activate the camera application, it will be able to reveal them by applying a small amount of voltage through the electrochromic glass.
The electrochromic back would definitely be a more interesting choice
The electrochromic glass it certainly sounds like a more sustainable solution and makes it more useful. Xiaomi will be able to completely hide the cameras on the back of the device, but in addition to changing the color, it will also be able to display some designs.

We do not currently have any specific information about this device that Xiaomi is developing in its labs, nor do we even know if it is a mid-range device or a high-end model.
In fact, even this Smartphone may never see the light of day, as it is currently in the testing phase, or it may be presented to us as some Smartphone Concept which, however, will never be available on the market, as was the case with Mi Mix Alpha.
If, however, Xiaomi decides to announce such a device, it will most likely remain exclusively available in China and Xiaomi will not promote it in global markets.
