This afternoon the acquaintance Chinese blogger, Digital Chat Station, revealed to us some of the specifications that the next series of Xiaomi 13

Σaccording to what he mentions in the post he made on Weibo, the upcoming Xiaomi 13 series will be equipped with the second generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 GEN 2 SoC (SM8550) and some of the devices in the series will be made of ceramic material on the back, which will be produced by Chinese company BYD.

Xiaomi 13 will also be available in a ceramic version (leak)

Ο Digital Chat Station he pointed out that the prototype used for testing in Xiaomi's laboratories is made of ceramic material on the back, but there will of course also be a glass version. So far it is not certain if all the devices of his series Xiaomi 13 they will also feature a ceramic version, and this will depend on the mass production capability of the BYD company.

Xiaomi has also used ceramic materials in the past in addition to the series MiX, and in many released Smartphone models such as the Xiaomi mi 11 ultra, the Xiaomi Mi 6 Premium Edition and Xiaomi Mi 5 Premium Edition. The ceramic texture is better and much more durable than the glass version, while also having a "soft" texture like jade.

In terms of devices and specifications of the upcoming Xiaomi 13 series could be similar to its series Xiaomi 12. This means that the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro will be released first in China and later worldwide, the base version will have Full HD + resolution screen, while the Pro version will have 2K resolution screen. Both models will be equipped with the upcoming Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 SoC Gen 2 (second generation)..

The new SoC is expected to adopt the TSMC's 4nm manufacturing process and use a new core design architecture with layout "1 + 2 + 2 + 3».

So the SoC will have overall eight cores separated into four different clusters (1 + 2 + 2 + 3). For comparison, the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 has configuration cluster 1 + 3 + 4 which includes a core Cortex-X2, three Cortex-A710 and fours Cortex-A510 low consumption.

This strange arrangement of cores in CPUs is seen as an attempt by Qualcomm to maintain support for 32-bit applications (AArch32). Maybe the 32-bit applications be phased out, but remain an important part of the Chinese market, where the SoC is expected to become available on a number of leading devices.

As newer cores like Cortex-X3 and Cortex-A720 most likely will lack support in 32 bit, new Gen Qualcomm Gen 2 SoC will maintain a pair of cores A710 to fill this gap.

In any case, according to DCS, his turn Xiaomi 13 will release him next November, and will be equipped with camera lenses from Leica. It will be one of Xiaomi's first flagship series that will be the result of its new partnership with Leica and will become available worldwide.

It might be his turn Xiaomi 12S (including the 12S Ultra) recently launched in China, to be among the first devices to be equipped with camera lenses from Leica, but unfortunately these devices they are not going to escape the narrow confines of the Chinese market.
