Νbut also its older subscribers Netflix, who own iOS devices, will no longer be able to sign in to the app via iTunes.
Netflix has confirmed that it will no longer support its platform Apple, as a payment method for new subscribers. This change was initially started in specific markets, last August and now applies to all subscribers, since last November. Those interested in paying for their subscription, whether new or old iTunes subscribers who have been unsubscribed for more than a month, should pay online through the Netflix page.
Apple holds a 15-30% commission on subscriptions made through iTunes and this is a point of constant controversy between Apple and application developers. Now Netflix will put in its pocket all the revenue that will come from the subscriptions of Apple device users. The extra profits from not paying for iTunes will be significant, as Netflix itself knows it was at the top of the highest-grossing iOS apps.
While bypassing iTunes subscription payments may affect smaller applications, it is highly unlikely that this decision will affect the number of Netflix subscribers in any way. On the contrary, it seems that they know very well what they are doing, if one considers that earlier in the year they gave the opportunity to pay their subscription, through Google Play.
