How to rent Lime skates
Lime offers electric skates which have GPS system, wireless technology and automatic locking and which are available to anyone who has downloaded the company app on their mobile. Through the application the citizen can locate the nearest available skate, unlock it and use it leaving the skate at the end of his journey. The cost to unlock is 1 euro and each minute of travel costs an additional 0.15 minutes, while there are no specific parking spaces.
Lime electric skates are safe and easy to use, they move at maximum speed 25km / h, run on an electric rechargeable battery and suitable for all ages. At night they are collected and recharged. In Athens they will be available for all citizens in central parts of the city from 8 in the morning until 9 in the evening. It is a smart way to move around the city which is innovative and environmentally friendly. The local Lime team will undertake the maintenance, recharging and installation of the electric skate fleet in the city.
Lime is located in contact with the Municipality of Athens to offer the best smart mobility services to the citizens of Athens. In the first phase, the company will collect anonymous aggregate data and will draw up with the Municipality a strategy to help citizens enjoy their city without their car, especially in the city center. When the data sharing system is activated, Athens will become one of the first cities in Europe to benefit.
The Deputy Mayor of the City Center and the Municipal Police Mr. Andreas Varelas is the first citizen of Athens to ride the electric skate of Lime and stated: "After Thessaloniki, we welcome Lime to the country's capital. We believe that the presence of electric skates in a city with traffic problems that Athens has, respecting the traffic code and the needs of the city, can fill a gap in the traffic needs we have.
