Companies recognize that much has changed since the formation of Technology Coalition in 2006, especially with regard to online risks for young children. They multiplied and diversified due to the exponential growth of new services and video streaming, but also due to the fact that the number of Internet users is significantly higher worldwide compared to that time.
Although various advanced tools have been developed to detect and report incidents of online abuse, the development of abuse methods is almost identical.
In the new memorandum of cooperation, the participants in Project Protect agreed to jointly invest in new child protection technologies, to fund independent research to understand new forms of online abuse, to find ways to prevent it, and to properly inform governments and authorities.
Finally, the Technology Coalition pledged to keep the world regularly informed of the progress of its actions and of its findings.
