Η Samsung started its microprocessor business in 2010, but became better known in recent years as Exynos SoCs powered many of Samsung's mobile phones in the global market. The same goes for the ISOCELL CMOS camera sensors that make the flagships of the Galaxy series, phones with the best camera on the market. Today, the Korean giant announced that it is bringing Exynos chips and cameras with ISOCELL sensors to the automotive industry.
How will today's carmakers benefit from these Samsung technologies? With the demand for smarter and safer cars, the industry needs more advanced sensors and computing performance. So here is Samsung, which with the new Exynos Auto and ISOCELL Auto, will meet this demand.
In a blog post, Samsung briefly explains the benefits of Exynos Auto chips and ISOCELL camera sensors. Exynos Auto SoCs are tested in the harshest conditions, making them extremely reliable. They are also grouped into three subcategories - the Exynos Auto V, which takes care of the in-vehicle information and entertainment system, the Auto A, which is used for the most advanced driver support systems, and finally the Auto T series, which is used for telematics.
ISOCELL Auto sensors want to become the eyes of your car. Samsung brings to the fore all the know-how it has with ISOCELL cameras, and the company promises that ISOCELL Auto sensors can capture more detail in the dark, resulting in more accurate object recognition and better visibility in low light. The applications will allow the vehicle to perceive the possible dangers while driving even in tunnels, but also in "other high contrast environments".
Exynos Auto and ISOCELL Auto products will be unveiled during the International Suppliers Fair (IZB) in Wolfsburg, Germany on October 16.
