Η Samsung will now support the file transfer protocol Mutual Transfer Alliance (MTA), jointly created by Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo.
Πa few years ago the Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo, joined forces to create the Mutual Transfer Alliance (MTA) - which is a new standard protocol for local file transfer between devices (between Smartphones and computers), via wireless connection at a 20MB / s.
After a few months of testing, the first Beta version this new feature was made available to January of 2020.
Since then, other companies have joined the alliance, and in fact this list now includes Samsung.
So in addition to Xiaomi, Oppo and ViVo, in the specific list that supports the Mutual Transfer Alliance, are included and the OnePlus, Meizu, ZTE, Black Shark, HiSense but also the Asus to ROG (Republic of Gamers) Gaminig her Smartphone.
Its integration Samsung in this alliance is a big deal, as it is one of the largest smartphone makers in the world, often holding the # 1st place in sales worldwide.
The "paradox" with Samsung, however, is that it already has its own wireless file transfer application - the QuickShare, which was introduced in 2020 as a replacement Android Beam (and as an alternative to the new Nearby Share of Google). Samsung even released a similar application for Windows 10 earlier this year.
Of course, this does not mean that Samsung will abandon her own QuickShare, but it is very likely that the QuickShare which is pre-installed on all Galaxy devices (and the corresponding application in Windows), will be updated to also support Mutual Transfer Alliance (MTA), but the company has not yet announced when such an update may be released.
However, this is a big blow to her Google, which recently announced its plans to add it Nearby Share on ChromeOS, which may also be available at Windows 10 via the browser Chrome.
